Real Madrid have filed a fresh complaint against Vinicius Jr after the referee ignored chants of “Death, Vinicius”.
Real Madrid have filed a new complaint over hate chants directed at their player Vinicius Junior during a recent Spanish league match. They were unhappy that the referee’s report did not mention the local fans chanting “Death, Vinicius”. Madrid accused the referee of negligence, claiming he ignored the insult despite warning Madrid players.
In an earlier disturbing incident in 2023, Atlético fans hung a statue of Vinicius from a bridge in Madrid, leading to legal action against four fans.
It follows earlier complaints by Madrid about racist chants aimed at Vinicius outside the stadiums of Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. They are urging prosecutors to identify those responsible for the abuse.
Vinicius himself shared a video of Atletico fans chanting racial slurs before the match against Inter Milan. The report also mentions hateful chants before the Barcelona-Napoli game.
Vinicius, who is black, has endured racial abuse during away games in Spain, particularly in the past two seasons. The league reported some abuses by prosecutors.
