Design:

The Samsung Galaxy M55 5G boasts a sleek and stylish design, with a slim profile of just 7.8mm and a weight of 180 grams, making it one of the slimmest and most lightweight smartphones in its class. The Light Green color variant, along with Denim Black, offers a visually appealing aesthetic, while the matte finish ensures a slip-resistant grip. The minimal rear camera layout, reminiscent of Samsung’s flagship S series, adds to the phone’s premium look and feel.

Display:

The phone features a 6.7-inch Full HD Plus display with Super AMOLED Plus technology This display is brighter than typical Super AMOLED screens, reaching a maximum brightness of 1000 nits for great visibility indoors and outdoors.

Viewing vedio from all sides of the display is no problem, and it has a feature called Vision Booster to further improve image and video quality. There is an Eye Care mode to reduce eye strain and an Active Eye Comfort Shield to adjust brightness. The display has a fixed refresh rate of 120 Hz, ensuring smooth performance.

The bezels around the screen are thin, providing a wider viewing experience. Overall, the display quality is excellent based on our tests.

Processor and Performance:

The Samsung Galaxy M55 features a Snapdragon 7-series processor built on a 4nm process, offering excellent battery efficiency. It includes powerful Cortex A710 prime cores and a GPU with a score of around 600,000. In CPU tests, it scored 91%, indicating great performance with minimal issues. The phone’s thermals are also impressive, making it suitable for everyday tasks and gaming without overheating.

In gaming tests like playing PUBG Mobile with HDR graphics and Call of Duty with very high settings, the phone performed exceptionally well, pushing the boundaries of gaming. It’s capable of handling graphics-intensive games smoothly. Additionally, app opening, closing, and multitasking are seamless thanks to LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. Overall, the phone delivers a lag-free experience for day-to-day tasks and gaming.

Software:

The Samsung Galaxy M55 runs on One UI 6.1, which comes with Android 14 right out of the box. You’ll receive software updates annually for 4 years and security updates for 5 years, up to Android 18. Samsung is known for providing these long-term updates, which ensures a good software experience. I can personally vouch for the excellent software experience as I’m using it myself.

Camera:

The camera setup includes a 50-megapixel main sensor with an aperture of 1.8 and optical image stabilization (OIS). It also has an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 2-megapixel macro lens. The video recording quality is decent at 30 frames per second (fps). The selfie camera is impressive too, offering 50-megapixel photos and also capable of recording videos at 30fps.

The camera features Adaptive VDIS for video stabilization and night photography mode. It supports Super HDR video for enhanced video quality. Other features include dual recording, image clipping, and object erasure for editing photos in the gallery.

Photo quality is good, with nice dynamic range and accurate colors during the day. Portrait shots have good edge detection and natural tones. Selfies appear vibrant and warm, with sharp details thanks to the 50-megapixel resolution. Night photos are decent, with reduced noise and good maintenance of details.

Battery:

The Galaxy M55 has a 5000 mAh battery, which is quite good for lasting long periods. Despite having a large battery, the phone remains slim and lightweight, which is a nice feature. Additionally, it comes with a 45-watt charger, but note that it’s not included in the box. When you do charge it, it reaches full capacity in about 50 minutes.

Connectivity:

The phone supports 5G network connectivity, which allows for faster internet speeds. It can handle dual SIM 5G and supports multiple 5G bands. We tested it with a 5G SIM card and did not experience any connection drops Downloading was smooth with no issues. It also has WAN LWAN, Bluetooth 5.2, WiFi 6, NFC and all necessary sensors.

Multimedia:

At the bottom of the phone, there’s a microphone and a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. You’ll find one speaker at the bottom and another at the top, providing stereo sound. The phone also features dual Stell U speakers for enhanced audio quality. It has dual microphones, with one located at the top. The SIM tray is on the left side and supports either two SIM cards or one SIM card and a microSD card. On the right side, there’s a power button and volume keys.

Additionally, the phone includes an under-display fingerprint scanner, which works well for unlocking the device and other tasks like typing and multitasking.

Other Features:

The galaxy M55 comes with a stock dialer, allowing you to record calls if needed. It includes a voice focus feature for better call quality by reducing background noise with a single tap. Security features like Knox Security and Secure Folder are included. You also get Quick Share and Samsung Wallet, with NFC support for convenient transactions. The UI is ad-free, with the option to remove pre-installed apps if desired. You can also disable glance features on the lock screen without any obligation.
