Jude Bellingham requested a substitution due to a left foot injury after scoring two goals in Real Madrid’s 4-0 victory against Girona in La Liga on Saturday. He appeared to twist his left ankle after a collision with Girona’s Pablo Torre early in the second half. Despite receiving treatment, he returned to the field but eventually signaled to be substituted after scoring his second goal in the 55th minute. Bellingham left the field with some discomfort but under his own power.
With these two goals, Bellingham has now scored 20 goals in all competitions since joining Madrid from Borussia Dortmund last summer. Madrid is set to face Leipzig in the Champions League round-of-16 on Tuesday.The victory extends Madrid’s lead at the top of the La Liga table, putting them five points ahead of second-placed Girona.
