Cunningham Sparks Detroit Pistons in 105-95 victory

Detroit Pistons End 6-Game Skid, Cunningham Nets 26 in 105-95 Win Over Bulls.

Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham was visibly relieved as his team finally snapped a six-game losing streak with a 105-95 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night.

The Pistons (9-49) managed to pull off the win despite strong performances from Chicago’s Nikola Vucevic, DeMar DeRozan, and Andre Drummond. This victory was a welcome relief for Detroit, who had suffered a heartbreaking loss to the New York Knicks the previous night, losing by just two points in overtime due to a controversial no-call.

“It feels amazing,” Cunningham expressed. “Yesterday was tough, but we put it behind us and came out strong tonight. This was a huge game for us.”

Detroit rallied in the fourth quarter with a 12-2 run to turn a close game into a comfortable lead, sealing the win at 101-90.

Simone Fontecchio led the scoring for the Pistons with 17 points, including a career-high five 3-pointers. Jaden Ivey contributed 15 points, while Jalen Duren recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Thompson and Stewart also played pivotal roles, tallying 13 and 11 points, respectively. Stewart returned to action after serving an 11-game suspension for an altercation with Suns center Drew Eubanks.

Despite solid performances from Vucevic and DeRozan, the Bulls struggled to find their rhythm, shooting just 2 of 29 from beyond the arc. Drummond added 20 points and 11 rebounds against his former team, but it wasn’t enough to lift Chicago to victory.

“It’s the beauty of basketball,” said Bulls guard Ayo Dosunmu, reflecting on their poor shooting night. “Some nights, the shots just don’t fall. That’s when you have to focus on the details and grind it out.”

With the win, Pistons coach Monty Williams was pleased with his team’s resilience, calling it a “statement win.”

Looking ahead, the Pistons will host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday, while the Bulls will face the Cavaliers again on Wednesday.
