Indian Railways took a big step:
Indian Railways is all set to introduce a significant change from April 1 to facilitate online payments for various services including tickets, fines and parking.
Notably, passengers caught without a ticket can now pay fines by scanning a QR code, offering a convenient alternative to paying in cash and possible legal consequences.
Handheld terminal machines are being provided to checking staff for this purpose to promote transparency and reduce reliance on cash transactions.
Additionally, QR code facility will be available at ticket counters, parking and food stalls, to facilitate seamless online payment for passengers.
